Mr. Khang joined Brookfield in 2017 as the Middle School Math Specialist. He grew up locally in South Sacramento, but was born in a Hmong refugee camp in Thailand. Even though his parents struggled with the English language, they were happy to start a new life in the United States, where their children would have great opportunities if they worked hard. Mr. Khang's father started teaching him Math at an early age, which lead to a life-long love for the subject. Mr. Khang loves sharing his love for Math in the classroom. "I teach, because I believe education is a powerful tool which young students can use to better their own lives and to give back to our community. I am excited to challenge the young minds of Brookfield School!"
Mr. Khang has taught in Oahu, Hawaii, and more recently, in the Sacramento region. He is completing his Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction at CSU Sacramento, and plans to continue his career in education here in his hometown. He is fluent in the Hmong language, and speaks conversational Spanish. He loves to travel and try new types of food; during his college years, he studied abroad in Japan and South Korea. He enjoys the outdoors, plays tennis and volleyball, and has coached middle school Cross Country. His favorite sport is Ultimate Frisbee, for which Mr. Khang coaches and participates in competitions.
