Mr. Timothy Blum joined Brookfield as our Science Specialist in 2015. Teaching is Mr. Blum’s second career, following a long and successful career as a Deputy Sheriff in San Mateo County. His passion for Science and teaching was ignited through positive leadership and teaching experiences with Boy Scouts, The American Red Cross, and Sheriff Department community outreach programs at local schools. He is also a certified Emergency Medical Responder, bringing life-saving skills to ensure the safety of our school community.
Mr. Blum began is 14 year teaching career at Challenger School in Palo Alto, where he received extensive teacher training in their accelerated program. During his 7 year tenure at Challenger, he served as the school’s Middle School Science Teacher, among other duties. He earned distinction at Challenger as the recipient of a Johns Hopkins Fellowship. A family move to the Sacramento region brought Mr. Blum to Golden Hills School in El Dorado Hills, and now to Brookfield, where he continues to refine his skills as a Science Specialist and classroom teacher. He takes pride in guiding his students to strong showings at the Sacramento Regional Science Fair and developing a school garden and Agriculture in the Classroom program at each school. He is known for his work ethic, boundless energy, enthusiasm, and high standards.
Mr. Blum shares, “I love teaching children! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing that ‘Wow!’ glimmer in their eyes.” Mr. Blum enjoys several hobbies, including photography, scuba diving, and fishing.
