Meet Madame Michelet

Claire Michelet was born and grew up near Paris. During her high school studies, she received a solid foundation in French language and literature, which were strongly emphasized, as were classical studies such as Latin and Greek. She graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Paris, and lived in Paris where she also taught art history, drawing, and painting for many years.

She moved to the United States about 22 years ago, and has lived in New York, San Francisco and San Diego. She also studied at CSU Chico, where she got her Master of Fine Arts. She has a 20 year old daughter, who speaks French fluently. Claire became an American Citizen in 2000, and now resides in Sacramento, and goes to France regularly to visit.

In addition to her love for literature and the arts, she enjoys teaching. She finds it a rewarding experience and takes great pleasure at the daily interaction with students, responding to their innate curiosity and monitoring their learning process. She has taught French for years, giving group and private lessons for all ages, including children and adults at Alliance Française of Sacramento, where she is still teaching.

In her spare time, Claire enjoys reading, drawing, walking, observing nature, photography, practicing Tai Chi, and traveling. She has visited many countries throughout Europe, including England, Ireland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Greece, and Italy.

Claire is looking forward to teaching at Brookfield School and is enthusiastic about sharing with her students the French language, culture, and lifestyle which are so familiar to her.
