School Mascot Update:

There’s a new character on Brookfield’s campus. It’s the new mascot, a genie. The student council decided to have a new student mascot to promote school spirit. The genie was submitted by Arima , Jillian, Rebekah, Christine, and Sonja. The genie was selected by a school-wide vote. Everyone filled out ballots, which were sent to the office and counted. Sonja, president of 7th grade, is the person who came up with the idea to have a student mascot. Mrs. Ashizawa says that she thinks the genie is an excellent student mascot since the lamp of learning is still the school’s symbol. Although the new mascot doesn’t have a very big role, it is an excellent way to promote school spirit. The other options offered in the election were an owl with books, a buffalo, a beaver and a dragon. Rod , a 3rd grader, came up with the owl. Kevin, a 6th grader, is the author of the buffalo. Taryn and Shelby offered the beaver. And Britta came up with the dragon. Sonja said the contest seem to be very popular with the students. She said she came up with the idea because things like mascots give students something to display their affection for the school.

School Mascot Contest

Our student council officers are spearheading spirit among our students! A mascot contest will be held November 18-25. We will still retain the "Lamp of Learning" as the school's logo. Students have the option to draw or create a mascot. However, everyone who submits a mascot idea must briefly describe why it would be a good mascot for our school. Student Council thought having students write the reason why a particular a mascot would be unique for Brookfield would be a way for students to show off their creative talents, as well as rouse up school spirit. All ideas must be submitted by Monday morning, November 25. Student Council will then put the top five entries on a voting ballot. Following the voting for a mascot on November 26, a creative school jingles activity will be held. Deadline to submit the jingle will be December 9. Students will be able to state their jingle to the student body on one of the next three days.
