After-School Care To help parents manage their schedules before and after school, the After-Care Program opens as early as 7:30 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m. Flexible scheduling is arranged in advance. Generally, students are encouraged to read quietly in the morning. The afternoon program begins with a study hall period to help students develop the routine of getting started with one's homework. Free play is encouraged outdoors. Basketball and other ball games are popular activities. Girls and boys often play games they invent on their own and include students from other grades. Young and old learn to help each other, enjoy each other's company and become friends. Board games and art supplies are available for indoor play. Friday afternoon is occasionally movie day.
